Howard Brownstein, President of The Brownstein Corporation, is a nationally-known turnaround and crisis management professional. Howard and his colleagues regularly serve as “Chief Restructuring Officer” in troubled business situations, as well as financial advisors to companies, lender groups, investors and trade creditors. He managed the liquidation of Montgomery Ward, the largest retail liquidation in history, as well as other high-profile cases, some of which have landed the principals in the “Do-Right Hotel”. He often says that he practices “battlefield surgery, without an anesthetic.”
A sought-after presenter at professional and educational programs, Howard has spoken at Harvard Business School, NYU, Villanova Law School, Northeastern University, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the American Bar Association, the Association for Corporate Growth and the Turnaround Management Association. He has published over sixty articles, books and chapters, including ABI’s eBook Problems in the Code, has served on the Editorial Board of The Journal of Corporate Renewal, and serves as a Contributing Editor of abfJournal.
Howard is a graduate of Harvard University, where he obtained his JD and MBA, and of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was awarded a BS from the Wharton School and a BA from the College of Arts and Sciences. He is admitted to the bars of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Florida, but does not actively practice law. He also served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps.
