September 2016

Dear Fellow Alumni,

Once again, The Harvard Yard is full of energy and spirit as students assemble in Cambridge. Many of us have said that the best part of our time at Harvard was the interaction with other students; the intellectual engagement and discussion amongst equally interested individuals seeking to learn and grow. This aspect of our collective experience is something we strive to foster here in Philadelphia, home to Harvard’s third-oldest alumni club. The opportunity for growth and connection with fellow alumni is alive and well. You don’t have to travel to Cambridge to find your Harvard community – we are right here in your back yard. Come and join us!

Our Club’s mission is to bring alumni together in meaningful ways and our success is dependent on your participation. Last year we held over forty fabulous events attended by alumni from all schools and all decades. This year’s calendar looks to be equally terrific, beginning with our Fall Opener Event with Professor Kermit Roosevelt on October 6th at The Acorn Club. Learn more about this special kick-off event and RSVP online at hrcphilly.com/events.

As this will be my last year with the “gavel” as President of the Club, I want to thank you for the privilege and honor of serving in this capacity. I’m pleased to report that Lirui Li AB’08 will assume this post next spring. Lirui is a talented and tireless advocate of Harvard and our Club, and she will be a wonderful leader.  She is well supported by an active and engaged Board of Directors.

Ours is a powerful story of community and connection, and I encourage you to get involved with one of our many committees. These include opportunities to network, plan and run events, interview applicants, facilitate awards, and foster membership growth. Whatever your interest, there’s something for everyone, and we want your participation. Contact us at club@hrcphilly.com to express your interest and learn more.

Please come out, connect, and get involved. Meet new friends, network, find a mentor, land a job opportunity, give back. Whether you’re Philadelphia born and raised, a transplant, or new to town, we hope that you’ll choose to join us. Reach out. Send an email. Friend us on Facebook. Attend an event and meet your local Harvard community. We look forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,
