Treasures at the Penn Museum

Join us on an exclusive tour of the Mesopotamian jewelry exhibit at the Treasures Sale and Show at the Penn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology on Sunday, October 28th.

From serving practical purposes of holding clothing in place, protecting the wearer from evil forces, reflecting the flora and fauna of the maker or wearer, jewelry has evolved to serve as talismans and offerings of religious belief and ritual and to signal a wearer's wealth, power, and social status.  Mesopotamian, Etruscan, and Imperial Roman jewelry reflect these origins and evolution through native craftsmanship, accessible resources, and exposure to and adaptation of various production methods and designs.

Join us in exploring the jewelry of these cultures as we visit the Treasures 2012 Sale & Show at the Penn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology on Sunday, October 28th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We will have an exclusive docent-led tour of jewelry from Mesopotamia, Erturia, Imperial Rome.  Following the tour, you may visit the Treasures 2012 Sale and Show. This jewelry show will feature more than two dozen designers and jewelers who offer a variety of antique, vintage, and high-end jewelry. Tickets include admission to the museum, the tour, as well as entry to the Treasures 2012 Sale & Show.
