The Wayne Art Center is one of the Philadelphia area's treasured cultural gems. The 2018 Plein Air Festival is the 11th exhibition of this nationally acclaimed show, unique for its professional presentation of open-air paintings of local Pennsylvania scenes by nationally invited artists. Join us for a visit to this exquisite exhibit, followed by a light fare reception. Children attend free!!! !
En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air”, and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist’s subject in full view. Plein air artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color and movement into their works.
