Spring Hike: Willows Park (Villanova)  ***Postponed***

The hike has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.  

 

Hiking enthusiast Justin Martino '91 and Scout Leader Charlie Ford '85 invite you to a spring hike in the Willows Park (and along the Little Darby and Darby Creeks trails in Skunk Hollow Park). We will pass by the historic Willows Mansion, designed in 1910 by renowned architect Charles Barton Keen, which is currently being renovated and revitalized as a community center!

    

This hiking excursion (children welcome!) includes a wide range of hilly and sloped trail conditions. Bottled water and granola/energy bars will be provided.

     

The event is free for alumni, families and friends., but please RSVP by May 15th

Please download the activity waiver by clicking here and bring a signed copy to the event. 

All adults need to sign/date the waiver and list minors in their party. 

  

We will hike rain or shine -  in the event of thunderstorms, the hike will be rescheduled.   

  

***Meeting information*** (Different from previous hikes)

  • We will be meeting at 10:15am in the parking area to the east of the pond. (click here to see in google map)

  • We will begin the hike at 10:30am. Call 610 246-5614 if arriving late.

  • History note:  The Italianate mansion, designed by renowned Philadelphia architect Charles Barton Keen for the bride of a wealthy distillery owner, was built in 1910 and was originally called Rose Garland. Radnor Township renamed the property in homage to the beautiful willow trees encircling its pond.
