Please join a conversation with Josh M. Sharfstein MD, Vice Dean for Public Health Practice and Community Engagement at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Dr. Sharfstein (AB '91, MD ‘96) is advising governments at multiple levels on the response to the coronavirus pandemic. He has written about school opening, vaccination challenges, contact tracing, threats to public health officials, health equity in the pandemic, and scientific integrity in the Journal of the American Medical Association, Nature, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Politico, and The USA Today. He appears regularly on Bloomberg radio and MSNBC.
Before joining the faculty in health policy and management at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Sharfstein served as the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the Principal Deputy Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, as Commissioner of Health for Baltimore City, and as health policy advisor for Congressman Henry A. Waxman. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and the National Academy of Public Administration.
Moderator: B.A. Sillah (AB '12) - B.A. is the founder of Kola Global Advisors, a consulting firm dedicated to accelerating the growth of healthcare companies, and COO of Avesta76 Therapeutics, an early stage oncology company. He has consulted on several business development initiatives with clients including Penn Med, CHOP, the African Union, and World Economic Forum. He sits on the advisory board of several healthcare companies. B.A. earned an MD from Penn Med and an MBA from Wharton. He received his AB in Human Development and Regenerative Biology and a secondary degree in Global Health and Health Policy from Harvard.
