Harvard Club of Philadelphia

An Evening with Nobel Laureate Maria Ressa

The Columbia Club of Philadelphia invites Harvard Club Members to join them at the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia's Evening with Columbia Professor, Maria Ressa, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Journalist, and CEO.

Few journalists have shaped the global conversation on democracy and press freedom as profoundly as Maria Ressa. The Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Rappler cofounder joins The World Affairs Council of Philadelphia to discuss the growing threat of disinformation, the future of independent journalism, and what it takes to defend democratic institutions in an increasingly digital world. Reserve your seat for an inspiring and thought-provoking discussion.

For her courage and journalistic integrity, Maria has received numerous accolades, including the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of her “efforts to safeguard freedom of expression, which is a precondition for democracy and lasting peace.”  She is a Professor of Practice at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, where she co-leads the Technology & Democracy Initiative at the Institute of Global Politics.  Please find more information about the speaker on the event page here
